1936 Delahaye Type 135 Competition Court Teardrop Coupe
Flashback to one of our 2014 participants
A masterpiece of the “French curve” with unique styling on a shorter version of the 135 Delahaye chassis. One of three surviving Figoni short-chassis coupes. This particular chassis displays numerous competition engineering features including a rare, competition four speed manual transmission, outside mounted rear springs, a low mounted engine, an oil cooler mounted below the radiator and a racing-style fuel tank with dual filters. Another exclusive feature of this Type 135 is the headlamp location faired into the front fenders to keep them competitively low on the road and add significant styling to the front end. Originally delivered back to the Delahaye factory, it was likely used as a show car and demonstrator for a number of years before being hidden away during WWII. It resurfaced in the early 1950’s and passed through the hands of several owners before being put away for another 40 years. Having undergone a restoration in the 1990’s and still mated to what’s believed as the original 160 hp 3,557cc six-cylinder engine, it has since competed and garnered many awards for its beauty and uniqueness.
