1906 Studebaker G Touring
Flashback to one of our 2013 participants

This Studebaker Touring car serial # 841 is the oldest known 4 cylinder model G to survive. It was the flagship of the line and sold for $3,800 with optional folding top for an additional $200. In the upper price range of all American automobiles, it was both mechanically and stylishly innovative. Its chassis was powered by a state of the art 300 cubic inch T-head twin cam internal combustion engine developing 36 horsepower. It transferred power to the wheels by way of a 3 speed progressive transmission. Studebaker designed and built the ornate coachwork with the Garford Company building the chassis. Its elegance and mechanical superiority were unmatched at that time. This vehicle was originally rediscovered by Henry Austin Clark in the late 40’s and later found its home in the famous Harrah Automobile Collection of Reno, Nevada. With restoration complete in 2006, the Studebaker Model G took best in its class at both the Meadowbrook and Amelia Island Concours and continues to tour regularly throughout North America with the Edwards family.
